Kindergarten at Deep Creek Elementary

It is a pleasure to introduce you to our kindergarten class. We offer three options: morning only, full day enrichment, and extended hours. Our program provides the best of everything we know about how to fully educate and challenge the kindergarten age child.

What a wonderful choice for families! A challenging, 3 ½ hour morning program and an afternoon option for those wishing an all day program. Tuition is manageable and within reach of most families while realistic enough for the school to provide quality staffing and curriculum.

We focus on basic skills- phonics, math, literature, science and language, all presented within a Christian context. Children are taught moral values and character development through Bible instruction. They are given their own copy of a children's Bible to use in Bible classes throughout the year.

Please consider our kindergarten for this important year of your child's schooling. We welcome further inquiry and your questions.

Children age five by September 1 are eligible for enrollment. Children who apply for our program are screened to determine readiness for Kindergarten. The class enrolls 18 to 24 children led by a certified teacher and an experienced assistant.

Choice of hours are:

Mornings: 8:30am to 12:00pm
Full Day: 8:30am to 3:00pm
Extended hours: 6:30am to 5:30pm (before & after Kindergarten care)

The curriculum, Harcourt Journeys, is a complete, integrated language program offering phonics instruction including initial and final consonants and short vowel sounds. A math program using a hands-on approach is taught daily for a solid foundation of numbers and number operations. Literacy is emphasized with writing and journaling daily. The class provides an enriched environment of learning centers with art, block-building, dramatic play, in-room computers, books and other child-centered discovery oriented choices. Afternoons include lunch, 1/2 hour rest/quiet period followed by enrichment activities to support the morning learning. Field trips, science & cooking are integrated into the program Specialists provide physical education, Spanish, music and art once a week.
